You might be saving the world with your thing but what about me?

emotional goals, the stuff that really makes people buy.

So, lets say I am a potential customer for you…

I really do need what you have, and yes I do have the money to spend but I’ve worked hard for my money and I need to know i’m getting exactly what I need. I want to know that you are going to help me reach one of my goals, I’ve got many so you’ll need to be specific to really get the message through to me.

People like to see themselves in solutions, you can have the best thing in the world, you might even be saving the world with your thing but what about me? where do I fit in, how does your thing help me?

You need to get clear on how you can really help your customers, no generic, boring goals allowed!

 

Start by listing the real goals you want to help your potential customers achieve, no poor excuses for goals accepted, no generic stuff like “we’ll help you make more money” that’s not a real goal. Yes there are plenty of people out there who would like your help making more money but this is not the real goal, go deeper, think harder, think about your customers story:

  • Who are they?
  • Where has their life taken them?
  • What are their dreams?
  • What are their fears?
  • What is s/he feeling when they are about to buy your product?
  • and most importantly What is the problem you are solving for them?

We want the real honest goals that your
customers are looking for help with.

Real honest goals, like: You won’t think twice about booking that dream holiday this year because you’ll have enough money in the bank to book it 3 times over and a business which runs profitably with out you so you can relax in the sunshine and know your customers are happily being looked after.

I want that! 

Tangible, real honest goals with emotion give you a clear structure to build your offerings around, and your customers will be clear about the results your solution offers.

Once you have these nailed you’ll be talking the same language and in the perfect position to let your customers know exactly why you are the person to help them.
