I’m nearing the end of my 20s. (Gulp).
Don’t shout at me, but I’m getting a few wobbles at the thought of entering a new decade – eek! As it’s such a big deal, I’ve decided to mark this milestone in style. A big road trip is on the cards (more about that later), but right now, my focus in on my health – after all, a girl’s gotta make the right entrance to a new decade!
So, to help me get into tip-top shape, I’ve started this seriously awesome, online training programme.
I say awesome, but actually it’s DAMN HARD WORK.
The routine has really stretched me, especially because I’ve had to do press ups. Yes, I know, it IS laughable. In fact, that’s exactly how my husband reacted when I tried to do my first set last week.
You see I have no upper arm strength, so I could barely manage one without going red in the face and collapsing in an inelegant heap on the floor. It was NOT attractive.
But because I have a clear goal, I pushed myself through the pain (and embarrassment). In fact, I’ve been a “really good girl” and I’ve practiced consistently EVERY DAY. And guess what? Not only can I now do a press up properly (get me!), I’m nearly into double figures – and it feels DAMN good too.
But even better, it’s getting easier each and every day, and I know that if I keep this up, I’ll get stronger, better and be able to do more and more and more.
Great Dee, but weren’t you going to reveal WHY push ups are good for business?
Yes I was!
So let’s get cracking…
Tell me, how many times have you struggled with something new, only to find it became easier and easier as you did it more and had the right support?
Marketing and spreading your brand message is a really good example of this.
We all know we need to communicate our brand and our message on a regular, consistent basis to find and keep more customers.
But do we all do it?
I think not!
Because just like those darn press ups, consistently creating kick-ass marketing is seriously hard work.
Especially if you lack the design tools to make great stuff happen.

BUT if you don’t consistently get your marketing message out there, you will NEVER EVER achieve super success in your business.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but whilst the internet has made marketing more affordable and easier than ever before, it also means you’ve got to do some seriously good stuff if you want to stand out and get noticed.
And that’s where design can have a MASSIVE impact.
Due to the HUGE amount of information that’s constantly competing for our attention, we have to subconsciously delete a whole heap of stuff that’s in front of us – otherwise we simply could not cope.
And that’s where design is so fantastically powerful.
But that’s not all…
If you’re able to infuse ALL your marketing material with a familiar feel that’s immediately recognisable as coming from you (i.e. your brand), you’ll start to build momentum and brand recognition.
Can you see how that works?
But the secret to making all this good stuff happen is to publish new stuff consistency.
You can’t post a social share image here, a blog post there, and then nothing else for weeks and still expect to attract thousands of fans to your digital door. Just like doing press ups every now and again, the big payback just ain’t going to happen.
Instead, you’ve got to create an editorial schedule, a strategic plan and keep at it, regularly and consistently (just like those push ups). Do that, and good stuff will start to happen to your business. I pinky promise ;-)

I get it, not everyone has the design bug.
